Confusion Rocks Asuogyaman NDC

Candidates aspiring to lead the Asuogyaman Constituency branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have accused their executives of indulging in undemocratic practices few days to the constituency congress. Speaking at a press conference at Atimpoku, one of the aspiring Constituency Chairmen, Mr. Wilfred E.C Yevugah, who was surrounded by other aspirants, claimed the entire party members were not happy with the organization of the 2014 congress to elect new constituency executives to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years. Mr. Yevugah said since the aspirants filed their nominations to contest for the various positions, of which they were vetted and accepted as eligible to contest, the Constituency Secretariat had failed to communicate to the aspirants regarding the date and venue of the congress. They have also failed to make the delegates list available to the aspirants. He noted that the NDC was a democratic party but the situation in the Asuogyaman constituency was a total disgrace to the ruling party, because the current Constituency Executives who are also contesting for the various positions were the same people organizing the pending elections. Yevugah accused his opponents of manipulating the process to their advantage stressing that the behaviour of the executives was annoying many party members who have vowed to disown the party if the negative practice continued. Mr. Yevugah alleged that there is a grand design by the executives to give accreditation to non-delegates to vote in their favour but vowed to resist it. He, therefore, appealed to the Regional and National Executives of the NDC to, as a matter of urgency, intervene to ensure that sanity prevailed in the party in the Asuogyaman Constituency. He expressed concern over the lukewarm attitude demonstrated by the Regional and National executives towards the party over the years. Mr. Yevugah explained that since the formation of the NDC in Asuogyaman Constituency in 1992, the Party had enjoyed relative peace and brotherliness but for the past twelve years, that brotherliness has been thrown to the dogs and instead breading arrogance, pride, disrespect, divide and rule tactics, greed and cheating. According to him, these negative activities culminated in the NDC losing the 2004 and 2012 parliamentary seat noting that the party executives at the Regional and National Secretariat were informed about the problem but nothing was done about the situation. He warned that if nothing was done about the current situation, it would collapse the NDC in the Asuogyaman Constituency.
