Unreliable Release Of Funds Stalls Projectsin Birim Central

Work on the Birim Central Municipal Assembly block annex with 36 offices started 16 years ago has come to a standstill due to unreliable release of District Assembly Common Fund. The Assembly has therefore taken a decision to appeal to the Administrator of the Fund to allow it to use a sizeable amount of its release under a certificate of urgency to have the project completed. This came out when Mr Owusu Frempong-Boadu, the Municipal Co-ordinating Director, conducted GNA Media Auditing and Tracking of Development project team to inspect the project at Akim Oda . GNA STAR-Ghana Media Auditing and Tracking of Development Project is an initiative launched to promote accountability and good governance. Mr Frempong-Boadu said when completed, some decentralized departments which are currently having challenges with office accommodation would be housed in the block. He said after its completion, the Assembly would use the same procedure to complete the Municipal Chief Executives bungalow which was started in 2006.
