The Northern Regional branch of the National Disaster National Management Organisation (NADMO) is asking government and philanthropists to supply them with boats and life jackets to save residents affected by the Bagre Dam water spillage. The spillage has increased the levels of water bodies along the water way of the dam. Four people drowned when they attempted to cross a flooded river to their farms. Several acres of farmlands have so far been submerged. The most affected communities are West Mamprusi, Savelugu-Nanton, Kumbungu, Tolon, Gonja North, Central Gonja and West Gonja Districts in the Northern Region. NADMO Northern Regional Coordinator, Alhaji Abdulai Slimboma told Citi News the level of the water keeps rising. �The brim of the water is still increasing. What NADMO is doing now is advising the communities around the river bank to move from low lands to uplands and where they use to cross with their boats we are advising our headquarters to get us boats and life jackets to help them in crossing the rivers so that the cause of the accidents will stop. The spillage of excess water from the dam is carried out annually by authorities in Burkin Faso to protect the dam. The Bagre Dam contains seven billion cubic metres of water and is used to irrigate cereals by over 3,325 families. It also generates electricity for Burkina Faso.
