Sir John: Election Date Can't Be Changed Because of Alan And Addai-Nimoh

Immediate past General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has said proposals by two presidential hopefuls seeking an extension of the up-coming NPP National Delegates Congress cannot be reasonable. According to him, the slated date for the upcoming congress will not be rescheduled by the partys executive committee to suit their campaigns. Presidential hopefuls, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen and Francis Addai Nimo have pleaded with the partys leadership to postpone the October 18 delegates congress to elect a flagbearer to lead the party ahead of 2016 presidential polls. The duo are of a view that, the time frame given for the elections is not appropriate and have threatened to seek extension from the court if their plea to the party leadership fail. But speaking on OKAY FM, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John and an ardent member of Nana Addos campaign insisted that the date cannot be changed because of Alan and Addai. He explained that, Alan Kyerematen during his campaign launch last Saturday claimed that he has won the hearts of the entire delegates and was very optimistic of winning the elections. Why then does he want the council to change the date for him? While the NPP was in court [Election Petition case], Alan and Ohene Ntow were campaigning, so what again do they want an extension of time for? he questioned. Adding that; Alan has been in the flagbearership contest for years, requesting for more time to campaign wouldnt be necessary for him when he claims the grassroots already know him. Sir John however stated categorically that, NPPs two-time presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is not concerned about the scheduled date for the elections.
