42 Military Personnel Dispatched To Mali

42 personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have been dispatched to Mali for peacekeeping operations. The mission which is in accordance with of the United Nations (UN) Humanitarian requirement is expected to last for two years. The northern part of Mali has been in turmoil since 2012 after the Tuareg rebels ousted then President of Mali, Amadou Toumani Tour� in a Coup D��tat. In a brief ceremony on Tuesday to mark the deployment of the Military personnel, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Sampson Odjer, charged the group to be of best behaviour and make a good name for Ghana. He warned that any officer who will cause problems will be brought back to Ghana and punished accordingly because �you have not represented the Ghana Armed Forces good enough or this country.� Air Vice Odjer charged them to be good ambassadors for the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana Air Force and the nation as a whole. According to him, all personnel have been sensitized ahead of the mission. �During their pre-training, they went through all those challenges they should expect during the mission in northern Mali,� he remarked.
