NPP Council Meet Next Thursday On Congress Date

The National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is to meet next Thursday to come out with a directive on a petition to have the October 18 elections to select a flagbearer rescheduled. Two aspirants, Francis Addai Nimoh and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen have complained that the time for the campaign was too short for them to be able to touch base with all delegates across the country. The council met all three flagbearer aspirants vying to lead the party in the 2016 election over the petition today (Thursday) but the meeting ended inconclusive. The meeting was said to have failed to reach a definitive conclusion as some council members were divided. Confirming, a deputy communications director of the party, Mr Pius Enam Hadzide, said on Citi FM that the meeting has been adjourned to next Thursday for finality on some issues. He said immediately those matters are finalised next week, they can assure the rank and file that the party was on the path of unity. He said the leadership of the party was leaving no stone unturned. The position of our constitution is clear, that it is national council that has the powers to vary the day for one or the other reason, he said.
