Obama Borrowed YES WE CAN Slogan From Nkrumah - Samia

Daughter of Ghanas first President, Samia Yaaba Nkrumah says President of United States of America (USA), Barrack Hussein Obama borrowed his campaign slogan, YES WE CAN from his dad who had been using it in the 1950s. Ms. Nkrumah commenting on the ideals of his father on the occasion of the hundredth and fifth celebration of his birthday which falls on 21st September, 2014 said her father who is a fore runner in the fight for Africas independence should be credited with the slogan first before attributing it to the first African American president of America. This YES WE CAN that President Obama began [saying in his campaign bid], we started it in the 1950s, [by] managing to do what was considered impossible, she said in an interview with Adom News, Friday. President Obama who ascended the presidency of America in 2008 as the 44th president of the union was famed globally by this slogan. And the true meaning of this slogan, the former Jomoro Member of Parliament said was accomplished by her late father when he broke boundaries to secure independence for Ghana in 1957 after more than a century of British colonial rule. She further described Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as a man who broke barriers and restrictions to achieve freedom for Ghana and Africa and an architect of Africas freedom and unity. Ms. Nkrumah was of the opinion that, Africa and Ghana in particular would have had a sustained and prosperous economy if the economic foundations laid by his father were jealously followed by the continent and successive governments. The African of the centurys economic policies, she added were aimed at promoting the development of the country which she described as being in an economic chaos. The time has come for us to bring back Nkrumahs ways of doing thingsreviving the hundreds of manufacturing plants, taking control of our economy and resources so that we can build strong manufacturing base that can give us jobs that would improve the economy, she recommended. Samia Nkrumah said her father would have encouraged Ghanaians and Africans to be up and doing if indeed, the country and continent are to get back on stream.
