Ignore Graphic Boss...Attend Gyans Press Conference

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has asked the media to ignore calls to boycott a planned press conference to be addressed by the family of Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan. The Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group, Ken Ashigtbey, whose reporter, Daniel Kenu was assaulted by Baffuor Gyan, in a facebook post, called on reporters to boycott the press conference. Ken Ashigbe said that it would be a sin against all who have died in the cause of duty and all who are still being assaulted. But speaking to Citi News, the General Secretary of the GJA, David Agbenu said the media has to give a fair hearing to the Gyans. We need to step back again and try to reason out why it is necessary for Ghanaians to listen to Asmoah Gyan calls. We understand all the difficulties and the pains that journalists are going through about all this issue but they have not spoken to anyone about all these things. It will be in our own interest and the interest of Ghanains to listen to them speak for the fisrt time and then we can make a decision, he explained. The press briefing which is scheduled to take place today is expected to address questions on the disappearance of Hiplife artiste, Theophilus Tagoe, popularly known as Castro The family is also expected to make a statement on Baffour Gyans assault case against Graphics reporter, Daniel Kenu. Daniel Kenu was allegedly assaulted by former Black Stars striker, Baffour Gyan, a day before the team played its opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda. Daniel Kenu however dropped the assault charges, citing health and other personal reasons. The GJA and the Graphic Communications group were angered by his actions and are planning on a possible sanction. A former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe has also urged the state to pursue the assault case meted out by Baffour Gyan against the reporter.
