Central Regional First Vice-Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Joe Donkor is of a view that some government officials might have influenced the CHRAJ boss, Ms. Lauretta Lamptey to opt for a hotel room for their own private reasons. He described as �unbelievable� for such a matured woman to make such decision at the expense of the state knowing how ailing Ghana�s economy is. In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, the NPP man sought to find out who shares the hotel bed with Lauretta Lamptey from the time she occupied the place as her temporary residence. �Who is sleeping with her [Ms. Lauretta Lamptey] in the hotel room? Is it a government official, her boyfriend or her husband?� he questioned. Joe Donkor further insisted that, �whoever is sleeping with Lauretta Lamptey has an influence in government. She must be probed. The right thing must be done�. Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Ms. Lauretta Lamptey is facing public fury for her reason to lodge in a hotel at the expense of the state, pending the renovation of her official residence. Lauretta Lamptey, within 37 months from July 2011 when she was appointed to July 2014 when her rent at the AU Village expired spent US$203,500 on rent and utilities at the expense of the State. She is currently lodging at a hotel and paying the Cedi equivalent of $456.25 per day in the interim, as her official residence. This news created a public uproar, with some calling for her to be fired and refund the whooping money spent. However, Joe Donkor told Peaccefmonline.com that, �The Economic and Organized Crime Office [EOCO] duty is to protect government monies. This is a case they have to investigate but not to be arresting innocent people for no reason. If this woman goes free, others will emulate her�.
