Dr Mark Nii Akwe-Ankrah, the Managing Director of State Housing Company (SHC) Limited, has cautioned unsuspecting members of the public, especially those in the Adentan area, to be wary of fake land owners. Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, in Accra, Mr Akwe-Ankrah explained that the Adentan land was duly acquired by Executive Instrument 15, for the SHC, and therefore, urged members of the public to desist from buying land from private individuals or companies in the area. �One cannot claim to have a land just by the issuance of a receipt from the seller and it is very important that members of the public desist from acquiring a land in such manner,� he said. According to Mr Akwe-Ankrah because the Adentan land had been a subject of litigation, the SHC had over the years regularised portions of the land acquired by private individuals. He said the policy to regularise had, however, been varied since 2012, and the SHC was no longer doing that. He, however, said the SHC was committed to providing more housing units for workers nationwide and the remaining land at Adentan would be used in that regard. �We have already started doing something on the Adentan land, as a portion of the land that was abandoned because it was a waterlogged has been reclaimed by the state housing company and 70 flats have been built on it,� he said. He said in order to provide more housing for workers nationwide, SHC had rolled out a programme dubbed: �The Social Housing and Urban Renewal Project� to construct high rise buildings on existing estate lands to house more families. He assured occupants of state bungalows that no one would be disadvantaged under the project. �SHC, which is Ghana�s leading land developer, is committed to the objective of providing nationwide profitable housing units by making housing easily accessible to institutions and individual Ghanaians at home and abroad,� he said.
