Ex-MCE Builds 4 Mansions Within 2 Years

Information available to Today indicates that the political future of the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) in the Greater Accra region, Daniel Amartey Mensah, hangs in the balance. The former MCE, according to plausible sources, allegedly built four (4) mansions in the Teshie municipality in the Greater Accra region within two years of his reign. The said mansions, according to a deep throat within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Teshie, are located at Malik and Tebebeano, all suburbs of Accra. The source further alleged that the former LEKMA MCE has soiled his hands in corruption, describing him as an epitome of modern day Arabian King who used political influence to acquire many assets. People like Daniel Amartey are part of the economic mess that has visited this country in this NDC era, the source opined. The former LEKMA boss is among four persons who have declared their intention to contest the NDC Greater Accra regional chairmanship position. They are the incumbent chairman, Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, Mainly Spain, Stephen Akwetey and the former MCE of LEKMA, Daniel Amartey Mensah. The source believes that these issues of corruption on the part of the former MCE have the tendency of dragging him before anti-corruption institutions in the country to explain how he acquired those assets. Armed with pictorial evidence of alleged corrupt practices perpetuated by the aspiring NDC Greater Accra regional chairman, the source reiterated its commitment to ensure that the NDC does not elect people like Daniel Amartey to lead the party. We dont need such people to lead the NDC at this critical moment of our time when the party is struggling hard to fix the ailing economy, the source stressed. But when the former LEKMA MCE was contacted via telephone, he vehemently denied all the allegations saying: I dont care what my detractors will say. All these things they are saying are not new to me. they can say whatever they like Im not perturbed, he stated. He added that he would not allow these machinations by his detractors to push him out of the contest. According to the former MCE, the contest is about ideas and not about character assassination as he claimed some people within the NDC were behind all these. In this regard, he called on delegates of the partys upcoming regional congress to be very circumspect and vote for people who have good track record to put the NDC in the lead in 2016. It would be recalled that the Assembly man for Nkpor Electoral area, Prince Aminu Saana, held a press conference to raise issues against the NDC Greater Accra regional chairman hopeful. He alleged among other things that the ex-LEKMA MCE unilaterally paid out the assemblys fund of GH40, 000.00 to a ghost company by name Africa Connections under the pretext of sending four (4) delegations to participate in the 9th Focus on Africa in the USA.
