A Country Without Healthy Citizens Will Collapse - Sammy Awuku Tells Mahama

National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku has made a clarion call on the Government of Ghana and all stakeholders in the health sector to step up their game in the fight against Ebola epidemic in West Africa. Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Sammy Awuku called on the entire nation to rally support behind the government to prevent the disease from finding his its roots into the country. According to him, the Ebola scare on the African continent should not be treated with kid gloves since it has the potential to wipe out an entire family. The disease, he recounted, deprives relatives from organizing a befitting burial for their deceased. To Sammy Awuku, Ghana's borders continues to remain porous and in the face of the Ebola epidemic, it behoves all and sundry to depoliticize the situation. Though the disease has not been recorded in the country, Ebola is surely not a disease to contend with due to the health complications and the death ratio associated with its existence. It has claimed thousands of African lives and 1.4 million people are estimated to suffer the disease if drastic measures are not taken to curb the situation. Sammy Awuku advised the Government of Ghana to take pragmatic steps to avoid the disease on the shores of the nation. A country without healthy citizens will obviously collapse. Government must step up. If the government steps up, I think the support we all have to give the government should be rendered", he said.
