The Ghana Football Association has been asked to give itself a deadline by which to expel players of the Black Stars who fail to sign a code of conduct and performance contracts.
The GFA�s General Secretary Emmanuel Gyimah Tuesday told the presidential commission of inquiry hearing issues surrounding Ghana�s abysmal showing at the 2014 Brazil World Cup that while some of the Black Stars players have signed and returned a new code of conduct, others say they have handed the contracts to their lawyers for counsel.
But Commission member Moses Foh Amoaning who expressed grave dissatisfaction at the lax with which the players have been handled, said it was time the players were told they are not bigger than the nation.
He said any player who felt he could not accept the terms of the contract should be shown the door, for there were many more players desirous of donning the national jersey on its terms.
GFA president Kwasi Nyantakyi, on return from the Brazil fiasco where Ghana exited the games at bottom of Group G (which also included USA, Germany and Portugal) announced that thenceforth the players would need to sign a code of conduct and performance contracts to guide the mode of payment of bonuses as part of conditions for inviting players into the team.
The team has since played two games, and it appears not all the players have signed the requisite contracts.
According to Gyimah, some of the players who remain in the team were yet to sign the contract, claiming to have issued the contract to their lawyers.
Mr Amoaning wondered if the players had been given a deadline by which to respond to the contracts, and counselled that the GFA set a date by which to kick out players who had not signed the contract.
He said if matters were not handled well, the situation resulting from the Brazil fiasco could lead to a fan revolt against the Black Stars, saying it appeared the players had not got the message clear enough of the public disgust against their scandalous conduct in Brazil where they abandoned training and insisted their appearance fees are paid to them in cash ahead of their final group game or they were not ready to play.
