Kofi Adams Jabs Otabil...

NDC Deputy General Secretary, Mr. Kofi Adams lashes out at economic analyst, Casely Hayford and renowned preacher, Pastor Mensah Otabil for their comments on the current 'magic performances' of the cedi over the last two weeks. A few days after the cedi began appreciating against the other currencies, Pastor Otabil was reported to have referred to those who were happy about the good showing of the cedi as 'people with half faith'. Mr. Hayford who also spoke about the development in an interview with Moro Awudu on The XYZ Breakfast Show said that it was too early for Ghanaians to make merry of the appreciation of the cedi. He further stated that the change will take a pretty time to impact on the global economic activities even though he was not certain as to whether the cedi will continue to rise against the dollar in particular or not. However, Kofi Adams in his rebuttal on the same platform, October 1, described the comments made by the two gentlemen as 'loose talk' and uncharacteristic of an avid economic analyst respectively. The aspiring National Organizer for the ruling NDC party wondered why the likes of Casely Hayford are adamant to admit the current appreciation of the cedi and advised the economic expert to make encouraging statements about the economy rather than his usual degrading and withering remarks on government expendable efforts to lift the economy from its doldrums According to government experts, the cedi performed remarkably against the global currencies. The nation's currency which used to trade at about 3.4 Ghana cedis against the dollar, is expected to close in on the U.S currency by next week. Thus, 2.8 Ghana cedis.
