Retract Defamatory Statement Or Answer In Court - YES Boss Tells Adakabre

Lawyers for Helga Boadi, the newly appointed Chief Executive of the Youth Enterprise Support Fund (YES) are demanding for an unqualified apology from the Host of 'Me Man Nti, Adakabre Frimpong Manso of NEAT 100.9 FM, for comments she deem as slanderous. In a letter dated 2nd October, 2014, Helga's lawyers said: Our instructions are that on the 1st of October, 2014, between the hours of 1pm to 4:00pm, you (Adakabre Frimpong Manso) made several spurious, false and defamatory statements against our client. They include the following words to that effect: 1. that our client committed fraud twice and that she is unfit for public office and consequently you were calling for her immediate removal pending further investigations. 2. That our client at some point during her employment with First Atlantic Bank picked up a colleagues American Express card together with his PIN and illegally used the said card to the tune of GBP 12,000.00 and that was only apprehended when she used the card to pay for excess baggage at Heathrow. 3. That our client illegally issued a cheque in her name to the tune of GHC 100, 000.00 and his resulted in her dismissal from the Bank on the basis of gross misconduct. The letter went on to state in a fourth point that, during the renovation of the premises of our clients former Employer, our client was involved in a lot of misdeeds and new owners of the Bank, being unhappy dismissed our client for misconduct And finally, that, our client was compelled to resign from Spacefon from misconduct. The letter emphasized that the above statements are palpable false and defamatory and of no substance whatsoever. According to the Lawyers, Helga Boadi is very shocked, hurt, angry and humiliated by the defamatory statements and if the Host of Me Man Nti failed to render the unqualified apology to her in the manner set for the in the letter, the legal team would be left with no options than to carry out all necessary legal steps to seek redress. However, in an interview with a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ghana, Dr. Poku Adusei, he described the warning as one of the means by which lawyers put fear people on behalf of their clients. He further urged Adakabre Frimpong Manso to soldier on, in his quest to dig deeper into the actions and inactions of public officials, which is ultimately in the public interest.
