Mahama Arrives In Accra

President John Dramani Mahama and his wife, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, arrived yesterday at the Kotoka International Airport after attending the 69th United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA, and the African Global Business Forum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Chief of Staff, Prosper Bani and some government officials met them on arrival. Also at the airport were National Democratic Congress (NDC) sympathizers who carried placards some of which read, The cedi is rising thank you Mr. President and The people of La welcome you Mr. President. In a brief statement at the airport, President Mahama said his trips to the United States and Dubai were very successful and assured that Ghana would rip many good things from them. He reiterated the need for Ghana to advocate for countries that have been affected by the Ebola Virus, adding that the international community is responding to the advocacy which he hoped would help contain the disease in order to prevent its spread to other countries. President Mahama indicated that while he was away he noticed some stabilization on the economic front, adding that While we can see light at the end of the tunnel, we are not out of the woods yet. He thanked the Vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Authur and the economic management team that had been negotiating with the International Monitoring Fund (IMF). President Mahama said Ghana would go into a three-year programme with the IMF, hoping that Ghanas economy would become stronger and more robust than ever before. He said, Aside from macroeconomic stability, we are looking at transformation of the entire structure of our economy.
