Vincent Kuabgenu Should Spare Ghanaians His Arrogance

The Central Regional Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Tekyi Mensah has called on the immediate past Executive Director of the Ghana National Service Scheme (GNSS) to give Ghanaians a break with his arrogance. According to him, Vincent Senam Kuagbenu has over the years exhibited gross disrespect and blatant arrogance in the discourse of issues pertaining to the National Service Scheme (NSS), of which he headed for many years and it is that same trait he has displayed in his call for the Auditor Generals Report on the NSS Farms to be thrown into the dustbin. In his call, Mr. Kuagbenu reacted angrily to the 2012 Auditor Generals Report which accused the NSS of embarking on a wasteful expedition on Agriculture Projects, noting that whereas Ghȼ600,000 was pumped into the project, only Ghȼ80,000 was earned in profits, during his tenure as Executive Director. Out of a total amount of Ghȼ593,744.23 invested in the farms, management produced records to account for an amount of Ghȼ82,741.86 leaving a balance of Ghȼ511,002.37 unaccounted for. We also noted that management failed to carry out feasibility studies to inform the investments in the farms, the report stated. But in a sharp rebuttal, Vincent Kuagbenu stated: I will tell you to throw that audit report into the dustbin". In his view, although the objective of the project was to encourage national service personnel to develop interest in agriculture, the NSS ended up making in excess of Ghȼ1.3 million from the sale of harvested maize. However, the Central Regional Communications Director of the NPP was not amused because over the years, Vincent Kuabgenu has displayed arrogance. He is the one who stated that Prof. Addai Mensah is ignorant during the national discussion on the duration of SHS education. I remember Dr. Percy saying he (Vincent Kuagbenu) had engaged in serious corruption in his term as Executive Director of the NSS but managed to resist an investigation so he should spare Ghanaians the arrogance, he maintained on NEAT 100.9 Fm .
