RTP Award Was Poorly Organised - King Edward

The Morning show host of Hello FM in Kumasi, King Edward, who was nominated for the Radio Personality Award for Ashanti Region for 2014, has jabbed the organizers of the awards. According to him, the much-hyped event, held in Accra, the national capital, recently, was poorly managed, urging the organizers to buck up to avert the demise of the awards. The radio journalist said that everything concerning the awards including the announcement of the nominees, getting access to the event grounds and the presentation of the awards was done in a poor manner. King Edward noted that he read about his nomination for the award in the newspapers, adding that nobody from the event organizers called to inform him about his nomination. The ace broadcast journalist added that he and other nominees struggled in Accra before they were able to lay hands on accreditation to enter the venue. Speaking with Beatwaves, King Edward said during the award presentation period, My competitors picture was shown on the screen when my name was mentioned, noting, This is very bad. King Edward, who was attending the event for the first time said most of the award winners did not attend the event, stating that perhaps they did not grace the show due to the poor management. Beatwaves also gathered that just like previous editions of the awards, the awards ceremony held last Saturday was characterized by a late start and many technical challenges. At various times during the event, videos and audios files supposed to announce the nominees in their various categories failed to play. At other times, the files played were meant for different categories that resulted in some amount of confusion. There were also long stretches of time where the audience was left wondering what was happening behind the scenes because there was no activity on stage. A number of personalities who won awards on the night failed to turn up to receive their statuettes and didn't bother sending representatives to do so on their behalf because most of them have lost interest in the event due to lack of credibility.
