Guinea 1-1 Ghana: Black Stars Top Group E Despite Draw

The Syli Nationale came from behind to hold the Black Stars in a hard fought game but the Ghanaians move to top Group E in the 2015 Afcon qualifiers. Ghana could not hold on to their lead against Guinea and allowed the Syli Nationale to fight back to share the spoils in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier staged in Morocco. Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan put the four-time African champions in the lead with just three minutes to hit the half hour mark in Casablanca. However, Ghana under the guidance of care-taker coach Maxwell Konadu lost focus and allowed the hosts to steal a point with just nine minutes to end proceedings through Ibrahima Traore. Despite the draw, the 2010 World Cup quarter-finalists move to the summit of Group E with five points. The Black Stars were forced to play this encounter in Casablanca, Morocco instead of Conakry because of fears over the Ebola epidemic in Guinea. Maxwell Konadus Black Stars entered the game at the Mohammed V Stadium n the back of one draw and one win in the qualifying campaign. The Black Stars thus have an impressive record against Guinea, with the last clash (prior to the Morocco one) between the two teams ending in a draw, though Ghana have won ten, drawn six and lost three times in their last 19 meetings.
