Player Ratings: How The Black Stars Fared

Stephen Adams 6/10: Making a successive appearance for the Black Stars the Aduana goalkeeper had very little to do against a stale Guinea attack. Was reduced to clearances off his line and enjoyed one of the easiest games a goalkeeper can ask for in international football. Awal Mohammed 6/10: A solid outing for the Maritzburg defender after his shaky play in Lome. Was not afraid to get stuck in and used his physicality to keep the Guinean attack led by Sylla at bay though he still suffers from lapses in concentration. Jonathan Mensah 6/10: The undisputed leader of the defence now,the 24 year old gave away an early foul but recovered to shield the Black Stars defense. Harrison Afful 4/10: Endured a a torrid evening from Souma, finding the dimunitive left winger a hard task. Offensively was not at his productive best as his delivery from the flanks lacked accuracy.A performance to forget for the usually excellent Afful. Baba Rahman 6/10: The young man keeps growing in confidence and one solo run from his half through Guinea's static defence embodied this. Defensively was solid and gave no joy to Fofana .Unfortunate to have been the marker when Traore struck his superb equalizer. Ghana might have finally found a solution to it's left back problem. Kwadwo Asamoah 5/10: Started as the deepest of Ghana's midfielders as Konadu looked to exploit his superior passing and reading. Was not as influential as he was in Lome and displayed unusually wayward passing. Emmanuel Agyeman Badu 4/10: The game passed the Udinese midfielder by for large swathes as he failed to affect the game defensively and offensively. Was hooked off for Rabiu Mohhamed as Guinea improved in the second half. Christian Atsu 5/10: Will need to do a bit more to because at the moment he is not playing like a major star in the team. Lost possession easily and did not contribute enough when the team was under pressure in the second half. His inconsistent club form seems to have rubbed off into the Black Stars. Andre Ayew 4/10: Andre is currently in a Black Stars rut. His performances since the start of the qualification series have deteriorated exponentially. Against the Guineans he held onto the ball for too long and failed to make any runs of note. Jordan Ayew 7/10: Lorient might not be benefiting from his form at the moment but he is gradually becoming more of a team player as he notched a second successive assist. He showed fight and ran hard all night for the team before he was taken off. Asamoah Gyan 7/10: 44 goals in international football says it all for Ghana's captain who again came up trumps for the team. Took his goal coolly but disappeared from the game in the second half as Guinea improved. Substitutes Rabiu Mohammed 5/10: Replaced the ineffective Badu and helped bring some steel as Guinea grew in confidence after their goal. Mubarak Wakaso 4/10: A shot saved by Yattara was the highlight of his appearance.A player still working on rediscovering his form of 2013 for the national team. Abdul Majeeed Waris 4/10 :Almost broke his year long international drought after narrowly missing a cross from Asamoah Gyan.Needs a goal badly to restore his confidence.
