Mr Mutawakil Rawbil, a member of the National Campaign Committee of Alhaji Huudu Yahaha, on Monday declared that he was the candidate who would turn around the fortunes of National Democratic Congress in the coming years.
He declared:"Alhaji Huudu Yahaya is the overriding favourite, as his track record shows; he is the man to be trusted for the task ahead. He is the first General Secretary of the NDC for eight years...he was in charge when the NDC had her best record general election results...58 percent in 1992 and 57 in 1996."
Mr Rawbil who stated this in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, said apart from that feat, Alhaji Yahaya was also the longest serving Vice Chairman of the NDC for 12 years, and therefore had the expertise to be at the helm of affairs of the party.
The member said Alhaji Yahaya, throughout his campaign, was concerned about how the party could garner more votes in the 2016 general elections, to win a third consecutive election, which demonstrated that he was a visionary leader.
He said Alhaji Yahaya had won the hearts of many delegates anywhere he went because of his humility and strong articulation which had endeared him to his supporters and admirers.
"Alhaji Yahaya's vision centres on the need for the revival of the ideology of the NDC, that is, the philosophy of social democracy. He takes time to re-visit the history of the NDC through the years of struggle and breakthrough, and also the period of change."
He said as a social Democratic Party, the NDC believed that all Ghanaians deserved freedom from hunger and oppressive poverty, and that could only be guaranteed with Alhaji Yahaha at the helm of affairs to subsequently win 2016 general elections.
Mr Rawbil said if Alhaji Yahaya becomes the National Chairman of the NDC, every constituency across the country will have a management fund,created with donations,contributions and some strategic fund-raising programmes to assist to have adequate capacity to serve branches.
"Alhaji Huudu Yahaya's vision on consolidating the strength of the party at the branch level is by encouraging branch members to introduce activities, such as workshops, forums on wealth creation, team-building and political awareness that would attract non-party members."
He said dedicated and discerning delegates were really in search of a balanced,credible, team builder, humble and participatory leader, to ensure victory in the 2016 elections, and it was only Alhaji Huudu Yahaya who could lead that crusade.
