Parliaments Generator Breaks Down

Parliament had trouble getting its generator working last Monday, creating a small crisis for MPs in addition to the power crisis that has engulfed the nation, the Daily Heritage has reported. After experiencing erratic power outage which has become usual, Parliament yesterday went for three hours without the services of its generator. Minority MPs who had called for a press conference on the recent producer price increase in cocoa, were seen frustrated in their attempt to get power to print their press statements. The MPs labored through the press conference without their edited speeches after it was too late to call it off. MP for Offinso North Collins Ntim told the newspaper that having waited for hours suggest the precarious situation parliament finds itself. According to him, the Office of the Clerk has complained about a faulty battery in the generator rendering the generator useless. We are not even able to get a standby generator to perform most activities of parliament and its a serious thing, the exasperated lawmaker said. It was not immediately clear if the trouble with the generator was solely because of a mechanical fault with the generator or funds to repair the standby power source. But the MP revealed that sittings had to be postponed twice during the second session of parliament due to the lack of funds to run the legislative assembly.
