BARRING ANY last minute hitches, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold its congress this Saturday to elect their flag bearer for the 2016 general election. The director for election of the NPP, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah has confirmed that the party has put things in place for a smooth and successful election, saying, By God's grace everything is in place for the Saturday election. The election will take place in all the 275 constituencies across the country. Speaking on Adom FM, an Accra-based radio station on Monday, Mr. Korsah indicated that there would be a polling centre at all the constituencies, as well as the party headquarters in Accra. He added that polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, constituency executives, members of parliament will vote at the polling stations in the constituencies while the regional executives will vote at their regional offices. He further stated that regional representatives to the national council, founding fathers in the region and TESCON members will also vote in their regional offices. That is the arrangement we have done for all the 10 regions. Those who will vote in the regions will vote at the regional headquarters, he noted. According to him, past national officers, delegates from the external branch, former president, past presidential candidate and running mate will also cast their votes at the national headquarters. Mr. Korsah disclosed that all the three aspirants will end their campaign by 3pm on Friday in order not to distract the election. If we don't find a way to stop the campaign during the election time, many things will go wrong. We don't tolerate campaign during the time of elections that's why we want to stop the campaigning on Friday, he said. Three candidates, namely; Nana Akufo-Addo, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen and Francis Addae Nimo will battle each other for the opportunity to lead the party as the flag bearer in the 2016 general election. Election starts from 7am to 3pm on Saturday October 18, 2014.
