Committee Reveals Cause Of Helicopter Crash

An oil spill on the engine of the helicopter that crashed in early 2014 in Takoradi in the Western Region, might have been the cause of the accident, that led to the death of three workers of Luk Oil. This is according to the five-member investigative committee set up by the Transport Ministry. Before the committee started investigations into the accident that occurred at the West Cape Three Point, it stated that: A) �Eight persons were on board the helicopter when the crash occurred. B) �4 persons survived the crash, 3 others died and one person is still missing.� C) �5 of the 8 people on board the helicopter were Ghanaians the 3 others were a British, French and Nigerian.� D) �The missing person is a Ghanaian.� E) �One of the four surviving victims is in a critical condition and has been flown to Accra for further treatment.� The committee presented its final report to the ministry on Thursday. The investigations was to establish the probable cause of the accident, determine the extent of fatalities and injuries, and the extent of losses or damage to property. According to the chairman of the committee Victor Opoku, their investigations revealed there was fire on the helicopter before it crashed into the sea. The Minister of Transport Dzifa Attivor told journalists that the details of the report will be forwarded to the appropriate agencies and will later be made public.
