Apprentice Remanded For Stealing

A 19- year old glazier apprentice, Ezekiel Sekyim was on Wednesday remanded into prison custody by the Tarkwa Circuit Court for allegedly stealing one Akai flat screen television set, two towels and a bag. The accused pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit crime, causing damage, unlawful entry and stealing . Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy said the complainant, Francis Quansah, is a driver working with Samatex Timber Company Limited and lived in the Company�s bungalow. He said on October 2 this year, the complainant left for work leaving his wife at home. Chief Inspector Paddy said between 1500 hours and 1600 hours on that same day, the complainant�s wife locked the door leading to their room and went out to buy some items. He said when the complainant�s wife returned home, she noticed that the Akai flat screen television set, two towels and a bag had been stolen. Chief Inspector Paddy said the matter was reported to the police at Samreboi and during investigation, the police found the bag lying near the house of the sister of the accused person. He said upon a tip-off, the accused was arrested and when questioned, he said it was one William Oppong who stole the items and hid them in the bush. Chief Inspector Paddy said according to the accused, he and William Oppong went for the items from the bush and hid them in his sister�s room at Aboifie. The Prosecutor said the police were making tireless efforts to arrest oppong who is on the run.
