Galamsey @ Land Title Registry Land Owners Cry Out

Some land owners who thronged the Land Title Registry early this week have expressed with anger their hatful of frustrations at the stack congestion at the Registrys main office in Accra due to certain unscrupulous bureaucracies land owners go through to get their lands properly registered. A few land owners who spoke to The New Crusading GUIDE newspaper to vent their frustrations out on the issue explained that because of the unscrupulous human elements involved in the matter of registrations at Land Title, an otherwise simple straight forward and easy processes now takes forever to complete because somebody wants to be seen first before he does his duty. They said, it is conspicuously evident that the processes land owners go through today to get their land documents, verify the sellers title and have their own title documents recorded have become a nightmarish and laborious experience at the registry. One of them (land owners) who gave his name as Mr. Martey was obviously mad at the system and stated emphatically without fear that bribery and corruption has dominated this particular stage in the chain of processes to own a property in Ghana to its nonsense point. He said, elsewhere in the developed countries, it only takes a day or a maximum of two to secure all necessary documentations to your title whereas the same process is taking Ghanaians years to go through and sometimes people even purchase and move into their homes years before they get their title records. He stressed further that its rather sad to note that when you sniff deeper you will realize that the delays are nothing but a deliberate scheme crafted by some insiders at the registry to frustrate land owners to the point where they will be forced to do the unlawful thing of giving bribes to speed up processes. These dirty corrupt practices are stoppable and yet we allow it to militate against the citizens of the state and again the worst aspect is when authorities and senior officers in charge pretends not to know or mind and thereby effectively turning a blind eye to the corrupt act as if to suggest that they are indirectly involved and so cant stop it, Mr. Martey noted with regret. Mr. Martey therefore ceased the opportunity to caution the Authorities in charge to be up and doing because these kinds of corrupt attitudes exhibited at some government offices do not only hinder productivity but also impacts adversely on the investor confidence in the country.
