Hearts New MD Wants Club To Conquer Africa

Gerald Nii Agyabeng Ankrah, Hearts of Oak Managing Director says he wants the Club to redeem its image in Africa by being recognized as one of the most trusted football brands on the continent. The Phobians having failed to maintain their prestige in Africa close to a decade now are determined to bounce back and dominate the continent after a long absence in the CAF Champions League. Hearts conquered Africa in the year 2000 when they won the CAF Champions League and Super Cup trophy, going on to win the CAF Confederations Cup four years later after defeating arch rivals Asante Kotoko. Gerald Ankrah, who was appointed as the new Managing Director for the Club two months ago speaking on Metro TVs Sports file program last Wednesday says the Rainbow Club will take Africa by storm in no time. "We are going to make Hearts, within the medium and short term, the most trusted brand or most trusted football club in Africa," the astute business tycoon noted. "The vision of the Board is clearly spelt out: we want to become the Bayern Munich of Africa and of the world. There are so many things we can do and put in place within the shortest possible time and I believe we can do that. There are structures in the club that has enabled it to survive since 1911 and for that reason using those structures will enable us to achieve more and build upon it. There are some more initiatives coming that are going to even make us exceed what we have on paper and I am saying, watch out for the new Hearts of Oak. Hearts last made an appearance in Africa in 2008 and are hoping to get themselves back on track to retain their status on the continent. The former Ghana Champions where ranked 85th in the recently released African Club rankings under the CAF Club Scheme.
