Dangote Cement Workers Embark On A Sit-Down Strike

Workers of the largest cement manufacturer in Africa, Dangote cement have abandoned their duties due to unfitting salary structure at the Tema Jubilee Terminal, [the company�s site]. The workers now on a sit-down strike are implementing a new salary levels and other allowances negotiated by management but failed to oblige. Peace FM�s Tema correspondent, Ohene Amponsah reports that, hundreds of the workers early Thursday morning demonstrated at the company�s main site after which they petitioned their management to heed to their plight. He noted that, the management earlier on had agreed and promised to increase the workers' salary by some percentage but the agreement has been snubbed without any reason. However, workers' health insurance and other necessities have been brushed aside by management without showing any sign to hear the workers predicament. According to the spokesperson of the workers who gave his name as Joseph, �They will not work until management attend to the quandaries� He however told Peacefmonline.com that, �Since the company is making a lot of money and they are working very hard, they have to pay them before they start working again�.
