The Captains of Ghanaian industries and businesses have been called upon to ensure that they comply with standards regulations in order to be more competitive both local and international. Mr Daniel Boateng, Western Regional Director of Ghana Standards Board said businesses that follow proper formulation standards also places them at a better position to market their products especially upcoming small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs). He was speaking at the 11th Annual General Meeting of the Western and Central Branch of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) on the role of Ghana Standards Authority in ensuring quality made in Ghana products in Takoradi. Mr Boateng said for made in Ghana products to be internationally accepted and recognised formulation standard must not be ignored. Awulae Annor Adjaye 111, Paramount Chief of Western Nzema, called for national agenda on improving the quality of made in Ghana products. Mr Andy Konney, Vice President of AGI said consumers must be given value for their monies. He said business sentiment had worsened very sharply, according to an AGI business barometer survey due to the depreciation of the cedi, non-availability of power supply and the multiplicity of taxes. Mr Konney said businesses continue to borrow at high interest rates which is a major challenge to the growth of SME�s.
