Confusion Over Pension Fund Management worrying Akufo-Addo

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate for the 2016 elections, Nana Akufo-Addo, has waded into the raging controversy between government and public sector workers over the management of their pension fund, describing the development as worrying. The latest intervention that has to do with the matter of pension is something that is very, very worrying. "Seeing the pension legislation in place and the things that are going on now, is quite worrying and must be of concern to all of us. There is the need to work together to get a good deal for our people," the former Attorney General noted when Executives of the National Democratic Party paid a visit to congratulate him on his victory at the NPP's flagbearership contest. An impasse between government and public sector workers over the management of their pension fund has resulted in a nationwide strike running over two weeks. The workers are demanding the right to decide who manages their fund but government insists issues about workers fund is too complex to be left in the hand of a private investor. An Accra High Court has, however, directed the workers to suspend their strike and resume duty.
