NDC Closes Nominations...

Nomination for the various regional executive positions up for contest in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) closed last Saturday, with rivals for the Greater Accra Regional Chairmanship notifying the capital to brace for vigorous campaigning. As of the close of November 1, information was that all the five aspirants for the Greater Accra Regional chairman position had filed. Daniel Amartey Mensah, former MCE for LEKMA, Stephen Akwetey, a cadre, Henry Ekow Manly-Spain a businessman, and Jonathan Nii Tackie Commey, former MP for Ododiodio, have, in essence crossed the Rubicon in their quest to unseat incumbent Ade Coker. The successful file of nominations means that the way has been paved for the party to vet aspirants on a date that is yet to be decided. Vetting is usually a formality. Last Friday, the penultimate day for the filing of nominations, the three leading contenders for the position filed nominations at the Kawo Kudi regional office of the party. Hon. Amartey Mensah, Stephen Akwetey, and Henry Manly-Spain all told journalists after they had filed that in the coming days their campaigns are going to intensify.
