Doe Adjaho To Be President Of Ghana On Wednesday

The Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho would perform the duties of President on Wednesday when both President John Mahama and Vice Kwesi Amissah-Arthur would both be out of the country on official assignments. President Mahama, current Chair of the Economic Community of West African States , would be in Burkina Faso on Wednesday, to get all the sides on the current political situation to agree on an interim administration, as the way forward. Protests in the Francophone West African country resulted in the resignation of President Blaise Compaore, who had attempted to extend his 27-year rule. Vice President Amissah-Arthur is in New Delhi on a four- day visit to meet captains of Indian Industry especially, small and medium scale enterprises. Mr Adjaho read a communication from the President to the effect of his trip to Burkina Faso when the House resumed sitting in its refurbished chamber in Accra on Tuesday. The House is expected to sit for seven weeks before breaking for the Christmas recess. Members commended the Speaker on the new role he would be performing but raised issues on his designation as Acting President when the 1992 Constitution did not specifically addressed the issue.
