NAGRAT: Omane Boamah Acted In Bad Faith...He Tried To Incite Public Against Workers

President of National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Christian Adae-Poku has expressed shock at the attempt by the Minister of Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah to instigate Ghanaians against striking workers in their quest to manage the tier two funds. The Minister for Communications, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, on Tuesday urged striking unions to respect the law courts and refrain from conducts that could plunge the country into a state of lawlessness and anarchy. His call follows what he said were comments made by some union leaders after the Accra High Court had ordered the striking workers to resume work. It is regrettable that some union leaders who spoke to the press after the courts order have sought to suggest that they will defy the court, he said. But according to the NAGRAT President, the action of the Dr. Omane Boamah is in a bad faith as none of the 12 labor unions on strike has received any court order instructing them to go back to work. He admitted that there was rumor last Friday that the government has gone for an ex-parte ruling to enforce the striking workers to go back to work; adding that the various unions on strike are yet to receive the court order. Mr. Adae-Poku asserted that the comment from the Communications Minister is meant to incite the public against the striking workers and also make to them lose the sympathy of Ghanaians in their legitimate demands for the tier two funds. We have not received any court order and in fact we were surprised to hear from Dr. Omane Boamah that striking workers have defied the court order; as far as we know, we heard a rumor last Friday that government has gone for ex-parte ruling against us while we didnt know anything or involve in the court proceeding. We were not represented in courtall these whiles, we have not been served any court order but the Minister was out there bastardizing us and setting the public against us; it is not fair because we have not been notified. If you have gone for any ruling, the first thing you do is to notify the person who is suppose to execute the ruling; so why do you go to the public to talk about it when the persons involve, you have not notified them? It is really a bad faith, he charged on Oman Fms Morning Show. He maintained that the heads of the 12 labor unions will respond to the many of the issues raised by the Minister of Communications in his press conference as they consider those issues as lies, skewed to rubbish the substantive issue at stake.
