Calm Returns To Anwiam .As New Chief Is Installed

Calm has finally returned to Anwiam in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region following the installation of a new chief, ending seven years of protracted dispute over who succeeds the late Chief. An installation ceremony was held last week to crown 45-year-old businessman, Nana Amoh Ntiedu Ababio, as the chief for the community. He succeeds the late Nana Attah Kusi, following his death seven years ago. Anwiam has for some time now not known peace since the death of the late chief, as rivals dispute over the rightful heir to the Anwiam Stool, which is a subset of the Kronko Division in the Kwabre Municipality. However, the installation of Nana Amoh Ntiedu, according to residents of the community, presents a new opportunity for the Anwiam community and its people to bring to an end long years of dispute and focus on development. An Assembly member for the area, Hon. Frank Owusu, in an interview with The Chronicle, said years without a traditional ruler had had serious repercussions on the development of the community as it was very difficult to lobby for projects without the involvement of the traditional authority. He was of the utmost optimism that the Anwiam community which lacks some basic amenities would soon witness progress with the installation of the new Chief. Nana Amoh Ntiedu Ababio, on his part, said education of the youth and development of educational infrastructure in the area would be one of his topmost priorities under his reign. He therefore called for maximum support from the community in order to ensure the realization of the dreams.
