Personal Bodyguards For MMDCEs Needless

Parliament�s select committee on Defense and Interior has �rubbished� demands by some Municipal, Metropolitan and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) for personal security guards to protect them. The local government appointees made the request following the shooting to death of Nkwanta South DCE, Peter Kojo Kenyeso at his residence by some unknown assailants on Monday. The late Kenyeso was gunned down by unknown assailants on Monday night Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, Ejisu Juaben MCE spearheaded the call on the National Security to provide MMDCEs with body guards as a means of preventing a repeat of this unfortunate situation. However, Mr. Fritz Baffour, Chairman of the Defense and Interior Committee in parliament told Adom news in an interview that the MMDCEs should rather think of the safety of the ordinary citizen first. He believes when adequate security is provided for all of Ghanaians, the MMDCEs would themselves be protected. �Moreover, Ghana has not got that money to provide security for all MMDCEs�,� he added.
