Ecobank Ghana has donated malaria and Ebola prevention items worth $140,000 (GH�420,000) to the Tema Manhean Community Hospital in the Greater Accra Region and 13 other health facilities across the country. The items included medical equipment, malaria drugs, test kits, hospital beds and treated mosquito nets among others formed part of activities to mark the pan African Bank's second "Ecobank Day". Morgan Fianko Asiedu, Head of Legal, Human Resource Development and Compliance, who delivered a speech on behalf of the bank�s Managing Director reiterated Ecobank's commitment to the development of Africa. "Operating in malaria endemic sub Saharan Africa we believe that by contributing our quota towards malaria prevention and control we will be ensuring that our citizens live and remain in good health to be able to contribute towards the socio-economic development of our local communities and the country at large�. The second edition of "Ecobank Day", which was under the slogan �malaria and Ebola, prevention is better than cure' was also aimed at bringing Ghanaians to join in the fight against the two diseases. Other health facilities that received the donations include the Mamobi Polyclinic, Kaneshie Polyclinic, the Children's Hospital in Accra, as well as health institutions in Northern, Volta, Ashanti and Western regions. Mr. Asiedu was confident the donations would be put to good use since local authorities and government agencies involved in the fight against the deadly disease were involved. "I believe that with each and every one of us playing his part, we will be able to chase malaria out and have a malaria free continent," he said. The annual "Ecobank Day", in addition to getting staff members involved with activities in communities in which the bank operates also serves as a day on which they use their collective talents and resources to make a positive difference in areas the bank operates.
