Gabriel Barima, famously known as Tweaa DCE, has been confirmed for the second time as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South District. He got an overwhelming endorsement from the 65 assembly members who voted in the confirmation process. Out of the 65 members, including five government appointees, he got 62 'yes', representing 97 per cent of total votes cast and three 'no'. Mr Barima needed just 43 votes, which is two-thirds of the members present, for his confirmation. The Assembly Members, including the presiding member, Madam Theresa Owusu Nyarko, cheered and shouted �tweaa� when the Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr Paul Boateng, confirmed him as the new DCE. The visibly elated DCE could be seen smiling as others poured white powder on him to celebrate his comeback. The Ahafo Ano South District Assembly has been without a substantive DCE since March, this year, following Mr Barima�s dismissal by the President. Earlier, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Sarpong, urged the assembly members to overwhelmingly endorse the nominee to show their desire to develop the district, which was the objective of the nominee. He said Mr Barima demonstrated this during his stint with the assembly and expressed the hope that if confirmed, he would continue from where he left off. Mr Sarpong thanked the assembly members for endorsing the President�s nominee and said he was hopeful that they would collaborate with him to advance the cause of the district. Mr Barima was in March this year relieved of his position following his outburst at a programme where he was alleged to have walked out because a member of the audience made the Twi taunt 'tweaa'. The video of the outburst went viral on social media and he became famous, thus earning him the alias Tweaa DCE. However, following public outcry and the supplications of some party members and traditional rulers for his reinstatement, the President this month renominated him. In attendance were DCEs from the nearby districts and some of the newly elected regional executives of the National Democratic Congress.
