President John Mahama made a surprise stopover in Ghana last night on his way to some other country. The visit has been described as a rare foray for a president who has spent the last couple of weeks visiting everywhere but Ghana.
He arrived at the Kotoka International Airport from the Vatican City after visiting Ghanas troubled neighbour Burkina Faso and spent Saturday in Nigeria commissioning a football stadium. The president had spent the preceding weeks in the United States, United Kingdom, Denmark and Norway.
A government spokesman said president Mahama will spend sometime at the Flagstaff House repacking his luggages before setting off on another round of sightseeing visits across the globe.
The crowd of supporters who gathered at the airport to welcome president Mahama were in a festive mood singing along to the lyrics of Yemi Alades hit track Johnny on loudspeakers:
Im looking for my Johnny
Where is my Johnny
You telling me this, you telling me that
I say this is not for me
Johnny do me corny
Johnny do me corny
Hes doing me this
Hes doing me that
But i no go tell mummy
