Collapsed NDC Chairman: If Anyone Says I Collapsed I Leave Them To God

Nana Toku, the defeated candidate in the just ended Western Regional Chairmanship contest of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken a swipe at the Daily Guide Newspaper for reporting he collapsed after the count of ballots. According to him, it is not true as published in the papers Friday, 14th November Edition that he collapsed and had to be resuscitated when it became evident he had lost the position by seven votes. It is sad that journalist have taken to lies and falsehood in the country. I am sad because what happened was that after the first count I realized I had lost by three votes and asked for a recount. I stood all throughout the period and everybody present saw me so why would you want the world to think I collapsed? I would have hauled them (Daily Guide) before the courts to prove their allegation had it not been the fact that I have no time for myself, but I leave them to God and their conscience, he said on Okay FMs Ade Akye Abia programme. Nana Toku, who was the incumbent candidate in the elections which was held on Wednesday, polled 126 votes whiles the Chairman elect Michael Aidoo garnered 133. However, on the account of the Daily Guide, Nana Toku would have fallen flat on the ground had it not been the intervention of the police personnel present at the event. But Nana Toku dismissed the claims saying I stood all throughout the period and even congratulated the winner by hugging him before I left the grounds. If anyone says I fainted or collapsed, then they are not truthfulI leave them to God.
