Kofi Adams & Huudu Yahaya In Trouble

The incumbent Greater Accra Regional chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ade Coker, has retained his position in the just ended regional elections of the party. He won by polling 157 votes, while his closest contender, Daniel Amartey, polled 103 votes. Two other contenders in the chairmanship race, Steven Akwetey, who was much favoured by ex-President Jerry John Rawlings was defeated, he pulled 52 votes, with and Henry Ekow Manly Spain, bagging a paltry 22 votes. Mr. Rawlings, has declared his support for his Spokesperson, Kofi Adams as the NDC National Organizer, against incumbent, Yaw Boateng Gyan, and is also supporting ex-General Secretary, Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, for National Chairman. Mr. Rawlings is also supporting Siidi Musah Abubakar for National Youth Organiser, a member of his wife�s group in the NDC called FONKAR. But if events in party over the weekend are anything to go by, the three individuals are in for a total humiliation. The Regional Secretary position was won by Victor Quarshie and the Assistant Secretary position, went to Patricia Addy. Anthony Nukpenu, was retained as the Regional Organizer, he will be assisted by Maxwell Ofosu. The incumbent Treasurer of the party, Alhaji Yahaya Kundow, also retained his position and the Deputy Treasurer went to Alhaji Haruna Seidu. The Propaganda Secretary position, was won by Jerry Johnson and his deputy, will be Francis Nartey. Citi News� Fred Djabano, reported that the election was peaceful, �there was no violence, there was no confusion and there is a lot of jubilation going on now.� In the Volta Region, Egypt Kobla Kudoto a former reporter of the Enquirer newspaper, was elected as the Volta Regional Youth Organizer. In all, 65 aspirants contested various positions in the women and youth wings of the party in an election held in Ho on Friday. The trained journalist, who formerly worked with the Enquirer, was in the race with Courage Danku, personal assistant to Joseph Amenorwode, former Volta Regional Minister; Hope Nyavedzi, the current Deputy Youth Organizer, and Sidi Abibu, also a Deputy Youth Organizer. Egypt Kudoto polled 44 votes, while his contenders polled 32, and 39 respectively. The Special Assistant to the Minister of Transport, Madam Dzifa Aku Attivor, has promised to apply his communication skills as a journalist to foster unity among members of the party to create a formidable front, ahead of the 2016 general elections. The elections were generally peaceful with 295 delegates casting their votes. Chester Ati, won one of the Volta Regional Deputy Propaganda slots, with one Noble winning the other. In the Central Region, Allotey Jacobs polled 127 votes to beat incumbent Samuel Eddie Yeboah, who could only manage 79 votes. The Regional Secretary position was taken by Samuel Ahianyo. At the time of going to press, results from the Volta and the Eastern Regions, had not come in yet. With the regional elections over, all is set for the National Executive contest. The date and venue for that is yet to be announced.
