THE NEW Juaben municipal police command has arrested a 27-year-old suspected wee smoker, Stanley Dadzie in Koforidua for sexually exploiting a 14-year-old girl for two years.
The suspect has been placed into police custody and is being processed for court for a possible indictment and prosecution.
The victim and the suspect are both residents of Koforidua -Nsukwao in the Eastern region.
The New Juaben municipal police commander, Supt Richardson Kumeko explained that they apprehended the drug addict during a theft of laptop involving the victim they were investigating which later came up that the suspect influenced the victim to steal the laptop for him.
�Upon further interrogation, the victim disclosed that, Dadzie began taking sexual advantage of her when she was 12-years-old and warned her against disclosing it to any family member with a promise that he would provide for her needs till they get married.�
According to the Police Boss, the victim revealed that she has since been in a �sex pet� of the suspect over two years. Supt. Kumeko said Stanley Dadzie admitted having sexual intercourse with the victim since 2012 during his caution statement.
He, however, discounted charges of defiling the victim, on the claims that she is her girlfriend of whom both parents are aware.
But, the Police Commander averred that, the law will take its course whether the parents are aware or not.
According to him, defilement and rape cases are criminal; hence, society must help to fight against it.
He appealed to parents to report cases of child sexual abuses to the police to enable them enforce the law.
