The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Constituency, Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah has ahead of the 2015 budget presentation in Parliament on Wednesday concluded that, without seeing the budget, it is more of the same as it was in the 2014 budget. According to the Member of Finance Committee of Parliament, the 2015 budget is not funded by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program as the government was seeking from the World Bank to assist the economy has not been concluded. Speaking on Oman FM�s Morning Show, Dr. Assibey Yeboah insisted that the government is going to continue with the current economic situation since nothing reflective was achieved in the 2014 budget. Measuring the performance of the economy, the NPP MP said it is not based on the number of school buildings and road constructions done within the budget as it makes it cumbersome and unfair assessment of the economy. He rather based his assessment of the economy on the rate of the unemployment situation in the country, GDP growth, inflation, depreciation of the currency, and interest rate. He said that �our currency has depreciated by 31 percent this year alone�; adding that the assessment of the economy is not determined by what government communicators say but rather on the everyday living conditions of Ghanaians. �The budget is not funded on the IMF program and so for me if you ask me what is in the 2015 budget, without even seeing it, I will say it is more of the same as it was in the 2014 budget. This is because what they are seeking from the IMF to assist our economy has not been concluded and so they are going to continue what they are finding it difficult to accomplish...my expectation from the budget is just as it were in the 2014 budget. We assess the performance of the economy by the unemployment situation, the frequent power outages and the general hardships in the country,� he asserted.
