Five persons are on admission at the Wa Regional Hospital with cutlass and gunshot wounds following a communal clash between the people of Dondoli and Jujeidayiri over the ownership of a disputed land. The wounded are Alhassan Ahmed, who suffered multiple cutlass wounds on his body while Fadul Rahman Yakubu, Abdul Majeed Mahadeen and Abdul Rahim Douda suffered gunshot wounds. Three of the victims have been treated and discharged. The Wa Police have so far arrested 21 persons and locked them up while investigations are ongoing. Two buxses and some houses had been burnt down in the two communities during the clashes. Members of the Upper West Regional Security have visited the wounded at the hospital and held separate meetings with the two factions and appealed to them to restrain the youth and cooperate with the security personnel to maintain peace in the communities. Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, Upper West Regional Minister, appealed to the elders to prevail on the youth to exercise restraint and ensure peace in the municipality. Let tempers cool before we go into the matter to unravel the matter and find a lasting solution to it once and forever, he said. Alhaji Sulemana urged the factions to avoid religious conflict because it is difficult to resolve religious conflicts.
