Kenus Dismissal Is Too Harsh Kweku Baako (AUDIO)

Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper has described as harsh dismissal of Daniel Kenu, Ashanti Regional Editor of the Daily Graphic newspaper. Daniel Kenu was dismissed following his surprise decision to pull out of the court case involving him and Baffour Gyan, brother of Asamoah Gyan. Baffour Gyan and some of his friends allegedly assaulted Kenu at the Kumasi Sports Stadium leading to a police case and subsequently a court case. The journalism fraternity as well as management of Daily Graphic stood with Kenu to ensure that Baffour Gyan and his friends pay for their alleged crime; so that it will also serve as a lesson to people who take journalists for granted. However Kenu pulled out of the case at the last moment citing personal reasons. Many were those who condemned his decision and others even accused him of taking money from the Gyan Family. The issue which seemed to have died was resurrected on Wednesday when the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) dismissed Kenu. Why should he lose his job because of that? I am not challenging the legality but I think it is too harsh. If I was Kenu, I would consult a lawyer. He disappointed all of us but that is not the basis for his dismissal he noted.
