AUDIO: Even At Gunpoint, I Will Not Disclose My Source Kweku Baako Tells Judge

Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr, has called the bluff of an Accra High Court Judge, Justice George K. Koomson. I am surprised that a judge said he can compel us to appear before his court in order to disclose the source of our story when that story is not even part of what he is tryingI am surprised. If the judge is minded to invite anybody; I will be the one to go.if the judge likes he should put me in jail, he stated. Justice Koomson during a court proceeding, threatened to compel the Editor of The New Crusading GUIDE newspaper to disclose the identity of his source of information which was used to publish a story last Monday in which Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings was said to be in a fierce legal fight with Dr. Albert Owusu Barnafo, over a divested state asset. He said: I may compel the Editor to disclose the source of his information and should he fail, I will throw him into jail...after jailing him, he can go to the Supreme Court for me to be chastised. Surprised at the judges remarks, Kweku Baako said he is ready to go to jail because there is no way he is going to disclose the source of his story. He said even at gunpoint, he is not going to reveal his source adding, you kill journalism if one discloses his or her source...you kill the whole profession because nobody will trust the journalist let alone disclose any information. We go strictly by confidentiality and so if that is the case then I am ready to go to prison. I am telling youI know I have young kids who needs my presence 24hrs but as for this one; if he (Judge) is listening, I am ready, he indicated during a panel discussion on PEACE FMs "kokrokoo" programme.
