Daniel Kenu Suspects Foul Play

The Ashanti Regional Editor of the Daily Graphic, Daniel Kenu says he suspects the Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group, Kenneth Ashigbey of being behind his sack. Mr. Kenu was sacked because of a decision to withdraw an assault case involving brother of Black Stars' captain, Asamoah Gyan, without informing Management of Graphic Communications Group Ltd. Baffour Gyan was arrested together with another for assaulting the Graphic Editor after he asked Asamoah Gyan a question they considered offensive at a press conference in Kumasi. The assault received condemnation from media associations, the Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group, Kenneth Ashigbey, and civil society organizations. On the second day of hearing, the victim submitted a letter to the court expressing his desire to discontinue with the case citing health and family issues. But Mr. Kenu on Wednesday said after the assault case and everything, the company set up a committee and did a recommendation which is totally contrary to my dismissal letter which to me shows that someone is behind it. I dont know what constitutes disloyalty as per the letter because for all I know i have not committed any crime neither have I breached the law. I have apologized already and I think that should have ended it but going to that extreme means you have punished me. There have been so many instances. Mr. Ashigbey transferred me to Kumasi because my colleagues and I needed our salaries increased. And even my dismissal letter was not signed by the HR but him which to me administratively is not right he bemoaned. He however denied taking money from the Gyan brothers to kill the case.
