Two gunmen who launched an early morning raid at the Tema Motorway Roundabout fell in the act when police subdued them in a fierce gun battle. Eyewitness described the episode as though it was a Hollywood movie. The Chronicle�s investigations revealed that at about 08:00HRS on Wednesday, 19th November, 2014, a cleaner, Collins Sam, working with the Mediator Zone Forex Bureau, located in the Godsway International Ministry, belonging to Bishop Daniel Obinim, was taken hostage by two gunmen. It was revealed that the men demanded from their victim keys to the safe. The ensuing struggle attracted to the scene a teller at the forex bureau, Kingsley Andoh, who was in the building at the time. The robbers took him hostage as well and then fired shots at the lock to the safe, with the aim of unlocking it, but they were not successful. The Chronicle gathered that Kingsley Andoh later freed himself and ran to a nearby Total Filling Station to call the police and raised alarm about the presence of the robbers at the bureau. Before the police could arrive, the mob had already responded to the distress call and surged towards the forex bureau. This forced the robbers to leave the bureau, amid the firing of gun shots, which injured Gladys Havor, 48, who was shot in the thigh and Pius Gagblozu, 26, who was also shot in the stomach. The robbers also hijacked a Vibe Pontiac with registration GT 9964-11 to enable them to escape arrest. The driver quickly reported the case to a policeman who was on guard duty nearby and with support from another officer who was on his way to Accra from Abor, chased and opened fire on the robbers and succeeded in killing them. In a related development, at dawn of Thursday, prior to the action at the Tema motorway roundabout, a team of armed policemen from the Special Weapons and Tactic Unit (SWAT) of the Tema Regional Police Command, on their night patrol arrested suspect Razak Shaibu, aged 23 years. The police reportedly spotted the suspect at Dawhenya Adotey Junction and when a search was conducted on him, a hundred dollar bill, GHc19, two torch lights, one mobile phone, one digital camera and a pair of scissors were found on him. When the suspect was interrogated, he admitted to having stolen the items from a nearby house and led the police to the premises of his victims. He was identified by his victims, as the one who broke into their house and made away with the said items.
