Government To Ensure Provision Of Health Facilities In Rural Communities

The District Chief Executive for Pru, Emmanuel Kwame Opoku says the health of the individual is of utmost importance, that is why government is doing all that it can to ensure the provision of health facilities in the rural communities. He was speaking at the launch of the silver jubilee of the Mathias Catholic hospital at Yeji in Brong Ahafo. Mr Opoku commended the hospital for a yeoman's job during the Cholera outbreak in the town. He paid tribute to the Catholic Church for its vision in establishing the hospital which he said has helped tremendously in providing quality health care for the people. A Sister with the Society of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, sponsors of the hospital, Johanna Roring unveiled the anniversary logo and pledged the commitment of the hospital to work conscientiously to meet the health needs of the people. The Hospital Administrator, Rev Parisuddam Matangi said the objective of the hospital over the years has been to improve and sustain health services to the poor and vulnerable. She said the hospital employs about 200 people but government pays the salaries of most of the staff.
