First Lady, Lordina Mahama Receives Global Inspiration Award

The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, has been decorated with a Global Inspiration Leadership Award and inducted into the Global Women Leaders Hall of Fame. The award ceremony, which took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as part of the second Africa-Middle East Asia Women Summit, is in recognition of her hard work and dedication to serving humanity, especially the less privileged. The summit is designed to equip women leaders in underdeveloped and developing nations to be drivers of change in their fields of endeavour, and also take up leadership positions in government, business and community development. It provided a platform for participants to share experiences and best practices and also create relationships that would forge mutual benefits of growth and development. Organised by the Centre for Economic and Leadership Development, in collaboration with the CEO Clubs Network Worldwide, the summit honoured women leaders who have distinguished themselves in their various fields with the 2014 Africa-Middle East-Asia Amazon Awards. Mrs Mahama was grateful for the recognition, noting that she saw the award as a challenge to put in more effort in bringing hope to less privileged women and children in Ghana. Three other Ghanaian women - Nilla Selormey of the Universal Merchant Bank, Ghana, Mrs Patience Akyianu of Barclays Bank of Ghana and Shika Acolatse, Country Director of Enablis, Ghana - were also awarded and inducted into the Hall of Fame. The States of Georgia and Maryland, United States of America, also honoured Mrs Mahama at the event, for her contribution to women empowerment and support for children in deprived communities in Ghana.
