Court Jails Labourer 7-Years For Child Defilement

An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced Oku Ebenezer, labourer to seven years imprisonment for defiling a 13 years old pupil. The convicted was convicted on his own plea. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah told the court that the complainant in the case was a trader and the mother of the victim. She said on June 27, this year in the morning, the victim was sent by the mother to buy food stuffs, when the convict called her into his room and forcibly had sex with her. The prosecution said after the act, the convict warned her not to tell anyone, if not he would call the police to arrest her. She said about a month later, the complainant noticed that the victim was pregnant and questioned her and she mentioned the convict as the one responsible. �A case was lodge at the Madina DOVVSU and medical form issued to the complainant to send the victim to any government hospital for checkup,� she added. ASP Acquah said the convict was arrested and after investigation, he was charged with the offence.
